I Am A Vietnam Veteran

I am,
a Vietnam Veteran!
My hopes are High,
that when I Die,
I’ll be Remembered,
my Memory not Dismembered!
I have Killed Many,
but-they were the Enemy!
I’ve always done My Best,
to Bequest,
My Love and Assistance,
without any Resistance!
I always Adhere,
My Life’s affection,
but when I look in the Mirror,
I still see the Reflection,
of War,
and All It’s Horror!
I can’t Sleep at Night,
I Dream with Fright!
I Think of what I’ve Done,
and I’m Overruned,
with Anxiety and Guilt,
for Those I have Killed!
My Soul Retains an Overcast,
of My Terrible Past!
I Cannot Forget,
My Heart Will not Let!
It was Kill,
or Be Killed,
But It Still Makes me Ill!
I was a Soldier,
of Just Eighteen!
I’ve Seen-
and Done Many Things!
Now I’m Wondering;
Can I Make up for My Past?
Will my Soul-
God Cast,
To The Devil to Hold?
These Feelings are Constant,
I’m alway’s in Want,
for an End to this Fear,
when I Look In That Mirror!

PTSD Is Very Real

~Why do things happen in life

to bring to a man so much strife~
~To fill his soul with that of such pain
as if to bind him with a weighted chain~
~So great his sadness he cannot bare
no one to love no one to care~
~His thoughts are full of but why
often he ponders his own demise~
~He fought in the war so long ago
a very young man of just eighteen years old~
~PTSD’s real has it does he
a gift from hell total misery~
~Afraid to sleep stays awake in the night
to sleep would return him back to the fight~
~He’s suffered for years causing but grief
leaving him in shock and that of bereave~
~Memories of friends felled by the war
the taking of life so many the horror~
~Silently he cries God help me please
take from me this terrible disease~
~To know in my life peace once again
a Blessing my God please will you send~

A Soldier's Life

One life, has he to live
For his country, he will give
A soldier’s life
Is so full of strife
His job, never done
Even when, the war is won
He fights, to keep you free
Even, from the enemies, you don’t see
His weapon, by his side
So far, he strides
At times, so tired
His only desire
A moments rest
So he, can do his best
He’s America’s fighting man
And, he does proudly stand
For, the Red, White, and Blue
To America, he stays true
He’ll shed his blood, for thee
To keep you free
Many have died
For America’s pride
Many more will
For, it is kill, or be killed
The price of peace, is paid in war
For this, the soldier will live through horror
So, when tonight you pray
Ask God, safe may the soldier stay
Make his life, a little better,
Send him goods, or just a letter
Thank him, for all he’s done
Say to him, well done, for us
You’ve hit a home-run
When, he returns home
Remember this poem
I wrote it, from my soul
On me, the war took it’s toll
A hero’s welcome, I didn’t recieve
In our time, the war, they couldn’t concieve
They treated us, like dirt
Our hearts, and minds this did hurt
We went through hell
Many of my brothers fell
For our duty was, to fight
A good fight
With all our might
Some who came home, went insane
Many died, was it in vane?
So treat them right
When done, is their fight
They will need you
To be true
All the help you give
A better life, they will live
